Finally found something that explained how silver is antimicrobial

When SmartSilver nanoparticles come in contact with moisture, they release very low levels of silver ions that prevent the growth of microbes that cause odor and material degradation. This same mode of action is responsible for the antimicrobial properties of silver coins and spoons.

I need to understand how things work – I don’t believe anybody who doesn’t have proof any more.  Been fooled too many times.  But Norwex seems to have a good product.  Norwex.com

Cleaning for a Reason

Just got this email sent to me:

If you know any woman currently undergoing chemotherapy, please pass the word to her that there is a cleaning service that provides FREE housecleaning - once per month for 4 months while she is in treatment. All she needs to do is sign up.  Cleaning for a Reason will have a participating maid service in her zip code area arrange for the service.  Not all areas are available.  This organization serves the entire USA.  There are people out there that care. Please pass this information along.

Grow mushrooms in coffee grounds

Are you a coffee drinker like me? Feel bad throwing things out that could be useful? Maybe this is the answer:

I love Cheetahs

I don't know why. I fell in love when I found the Cincinnati Zoo's cheetah blog, cheetahdays.com. I read through all of their back log one day last summer, and have been in love ever since. If I had know at a younger age that the trainers live with the cheetahs in a house, I would have made this my career.

It's amazing how docile they are. They are endangered because farmers in Africa shoot the them when the cheetahs attack their herds. Education efforts are underway to teach the farmers that all they really need is a big dog with their herds. When the dogs spot the cheetahs and bark, the cheetahs flee. They are non-confrontational animals, unlike some other big cats.
