No-poo: This means shampoo-free shampoo made from one tablespoon of baking soda per one cup of warm or hot water. Conditioner: one to two tablespoons of Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) per cup of water. (Found Linked to from this post on making your own deodorant.) I'm not sure I can go quite that green, but I'll update if I try it.
Update 7/9/08: Well, I think I used too much baking soda so my hair is a little bit dry, but I still HIGHLY recommend trying this! Shampoo and conditioner usually make my hair feel greasy and dry at the same time. With the baking soda / ACV method, the hair at my scalp looks much, much healthier and shiny instead of dull. I'm going to cut back on baking soda, increase ACV, and keep this up. The links from the shampoo site were very helpful in figuring this all out. (Still haven't tried the deodorant; way more work for that.)
Update 7/18/08: Experiment FAILED. My hair just kept getting oilier and oilier. Baking soda did not remove the natural oils; ACV did not remove the natural oils; tea did not remove the natural oils. I was beginning to look like an unwashed hippie, which is not cool. I am going to a wedding tonight, and looking like an unwashed hippie at a black-tie wedding is not cool. So, back to regular shampoo. I so wanted this to work out!! I think for someone with dry hair this would work very well, but that is not me. I have dry ends, but this didn't change that. Of course I didn't get the boar bristle brush which should evenly distribute the oils to the ends, but I think for me that would have made things worse. :-(
